The Perfect Bite

North Point Productions is looking for an experienced Food Stylist to join the team for an upcoming commercial food shoot in Stirling.

The production will involve filming and photographing a range of prepared food products for a professionally produced advertising campaign.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Director, Director of Photography, Art Department and production team to ensure every dish looks its best on camera.

About the Role

As Food Stylist, you will be responsible for preparing, arranging and maintaining food throughout the shoot so that it remains visually consistent and camera-ready across multiple takes and setups.

You should have a strong eye for detail, understand how food behaves under studio lighting and be comfortable working at the pace required on a commercial production.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and style food specifically for camera
Work from the creative brief and shot list
Arrange dishes, ingredients and garnishes for individual shots
Maintain visual consistency between takes
Prepare duplicate dishes where continuity requires them
Monitor food throughout filming and refresh or replace elements as necessary
Work closely with the Director and DoP on composition and presentation
Coordinate with props and art department where required
Advise production on ingredients, preparation requirements and quantities
Identify items that need to be prepared in advance
Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe working area
Manage timing so hero dishes are ready when required
Assist with food-related continuity notes
Flag any practical issues that may affect the planned shots
About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience styling food for film, television, advertising or professional photography
Has an excellent eye for colour, composition and presentation
Understands how food appearance changes under lighting and over time
Can recreate dishes consistently for multiple takes
Is organised and comfortable working to tight production schedules
Can communicate effectively with directors, camera crews and art departments
Is calm and adaptable when creative requirements change
Has strong attention to detail
Understands professional food handling and hygiene requirements
Desirable Experience

Television commercials
Food and drink advertising
Product photography
Tabletop filming
Slow-motion food photography
Macro food shots
Pour shots and liquid styling
Pack shots
Restaurant or hospitality campaigns
Working alongside prop stylists and art directors
Kit & Ingredients

Consumables commonly required for food styling

Production will supply the principal ingredients and products required for the shoot.

Any specialist ingredients, duplicates or preparation requirements should be discussed with production in advance.

Location

The shoot will take place in Stirling, Scotland, with the main food sequences filmed in a controlled indoor environment.

Applicants should be able to travel to Stirling for both production days.

Rate

This is a paid freelance position.

Rate will be agreed based on experience, responsibilities and whether any specialist kit is being supplied by the successful applicant.

Any agreed kit fees and expenses will be confirmed before engagement.
